A writer travels to Providence to record a final interview with his former mentor, a brilliant 90-year-old German philosopher. But the plan is derailed when the writer drops his phone in a sink, losing the audio completely.

Left with no physical record of the conversation, the narrator is forced to reconstruct their profound encounter entirely from memory. The resulting narrative spirals outward, weaving together art conferences in Madrid with a painful family crisis in Los Angeles.
