Lack — Book Author Conversation
Description
She’s in her thirties. Her partner wants children. She’s undecided. There’s already so much else for her to wrestle with: the death of her mother, a sexual assault, an all consuming affair with an older actor. Lack is a beautifully observed novel about grief, motherhood, the pressure to move forward - and all the ways that the past keeps showing up uninvited.
Cecilia Knapp is a poet and novelist. Awarded the Young People's Laureate for London 2020–21, she was shortlisted for the 2022 Forward Prize and won the Ruth Rendell Award. Her debut poetry collection Peach Pig was an Observer book of the month. Lack is her second book.
