A Manual for Living with Defeat — Poetry Salon

Ten years after Leonard Cohen’s passing, we’re gathering at the bookshop for an evening of poetry and music in his company. A poetry salon hosted by @homeofpoetry.hop

Long before the songs, Cohen was a poet, and his work is a mighty one: desire, doubt, mercy and the crack in everything. We borrow our title from his own line, “a manual for living with defeat,” and ask what we might add to our own manuals.

An intimate evening with a small group: close readings, live music, and an open floor to share a poem of your own or a moment you’ve had with his work. You don’t need to know it well, just to be curious. Come to listen, or bring a poem or a song to read or perform. There will be drinks, too. And, of course, Leonard’s books.
