The Strangling Fig — Book Launch

First author event after the summer and we’re so back!! Fauzia Musa is launching her debut novel in Lisbon with us, and what an honor.

A girl in Hyderabad loses her father on the eve of Partition, and with that, her mother’s ability to be present. That absence crosses an ocean, moves through a marriage, a daughter, and lands on a granddaughter who starts seeing ghosts nobody told her about. Alex called her writing “delicate yet certain”.

Which brings us to the second reason this night is special. Our dear Alex Holder, Salted’s founder, is coming back to the bookshop for the first time in almost a year to interview her friend. They are part of a dedicated writing group and Alex saw this book through many drafts. So here’s to the friends who make the whole journey possible with every draft, every doubt and every celebration.
