Most novels about open marriages treat them as a crisis or a phase, something to survive before going back to normal. Skin Contact doesn't do that. Elisa Faison, who is herself in a polyamorous marriage, wrote the book she couldn't find: a story where opening a relationship isn't the problem or the punchline, it's just the life. Frances and Ben are a couple since college. After Frances's mother dies, grief cracks something open and they find themselves wanting more — from each other, from other people, from the shape of the life they'd built.
